Constitution Party Opposes Illegal Alien Advocate
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
CONSTITUTION PARTY OPPOSES
ILLEGAL ALIEN ADVOCATE AS DIRECTOR OF
MISSOURI ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPT.
Jefferson City, Feb. 10—The Missouri State Senate today, in a voice vote, confirmed illegal alien advocate, Linda Martinez, as Director of the Missouri Economic Development Department.
While working pro bono for the Bryan Cave Law Firm, Ms Martinez led the fight to repeal duly passed city ordinances in the St. Louis suburb of Valley Park that included penalties for the hiring and housing of illegal immigrants. These ordinances were put in place in 2006 to stem the tide of illegal immigrants in the small town. Ms Martinez spearheaded a group of more than twenty lawyers from organizations, including the ACLU, against the City and the rule of law. Ultimately, a federal court judge totally exonerated the City from every count brought against them.
“We’re disappointed that Governor Nixon had even considered her for such a position,” said Missouri Constitution Party Chairman Donna Ivanovich, “and we’re stunned that they deliberately chose not to have a recorded vote.”
“At a time when the country is in economic crisis and Missouri citizens are struggling to keep their jobs and worrying about their family’s future, these senators should not be supporting a person who desires to allow Missouri businesses to employ illegal aliens.
We find Ms. Martinez’s professional efforts to support illegal aliens to be in direct conflict with current Missouri immigration law.
“Members of the State Senate know that their constituents are enraged with this action,” said Ivanovich, “Constitution Party members and grassroots organizations statewide have flooded their offices with phone calls, emails, and letters ever since Governor Nixon nominated Ms Martinez. They now know that there are informed citizens in this state who are following what goes on in Jefferson City, and they aren’t afraid to let their opinions be known to their elected public officials.”
