Richard Smith
Our candidate for Missouri’s Eighth
Congressional District is Richard Smith. His roots in the Eighth District are deep.
Excepting his service in the Navy (1987-1991), Richard has been a lifelong
resident there. He was born in Fredericktown. Currently he lives in
Mansfield, where he and his wife are raising two sons. “I thank the Lord
every day for my family,” he says, “and the blessings He has given
me.” You can’t think of Richard without the term
“self-made man” coming to mind. He has worked in dairy farming, on river
barges, and as a truck driver. He did electronic equipment repair in the
Navy. He’s now an owner/operator leased to a trucking firm in Kansas and
he owns a small private investigation service in south central
Missouri. As a result, Richard has been part of many
varied organizations, including the Owner Operators Independent Drivers
Association, the National Association of Investigative Specialists, and
the Gun Owners of America. Richard is also the Constitution Party of
Missouri’s Congressional District Chairman of the 8th District
and serves on its Executive Committee. Richard is a great believer in ongoing
education through independent reading. Over the past 17 years, he’s
studied a wide range of important fields, including religion, history,
politics, psychology, and philosophy. From his studies, Richard has drawn a vital
conclusion: America has to once more adhere to the principles that made it
great. It’s the idea that motivated him to run as the Constitution Party’s
2000 candidate for governor. It’s the same idea that motivating him to
represent the Eighth District: “I am seeking this office because I believe
that we need to bring our country back to the ideas of Freedom, Liberty,
and Hope. The freedom to live as our Creator designed us to. The liberty
to live and work, to be secure in our homes, persons, and communications,
and to pursue our own happiness without government regulations and
restrictions. Finally hope, the hope that our Nation will remain strong
and prosperous for future generations so that our children and our
posterity can have the freedoms that we, our parents, and grandparents
have for so long enjoyed and cherished.” You can contact Richard Smith directly at
